An Exciting Interview with Australian Archaeologist Karri Major
AT: Tell us about your expedition.
KM: I am leading the first-ever expedition inside Uluru, a gigantic rock in the middle of the Australian Outback. It wasn’t very long ago that no one even knew there was an inside to Uluru. But I was able to use a whole array of high-tech toys to find a network of caves hidden deep within Uluru. It was very exciting; even my daughter, Jarrah, was impressed.
AT: Do you have a personal connection to Uluru?
KM: Yes, I am an Indigenous Australian, and to us, Uluru is truly sacred.
AT: Any advice for future archaeologists?
KM: It’s a job filled with lots of adventure—but it’s not for the faint of heart! Luckily, that’s something I’ve never been. And for that matter, neither has my daughter, Jarrah.
