Richard Gere Middle School

Mack attends Richard Gere Middle School in Sedona, Arizona. (Go, Fighting Pupfish!) The school is blessed in a number of ways, but cursed in others. It’s known to have a number of excellent teachers, as well as an advanced placement yoga class and something called noncompetitive bowling as an elective. Unfortunately, it also has more bullies than should ever be allowed in one school. There are so many bullies at Richard Gere Middle School that the bullies actually have to organize themselves—so they each stake claim over their sphere of influence.

Because of this, the jocks have a bully; the skaters have a bully; the Goths have a bully (but he’s out with mono, so the Emo bully is filling in); the preps/fashionistas have a bully; the nerds have a bully; the geeks have a bully; even the stoners have a bully, though he loses focus too much to be very good at his job. But in the hierarchy of bullies, there is one who stands at the very top, one who rules above them all: Stefan Marr. Everyone at Richard Gere Middle School lives in complete and total fear of Stefan Marr, including Mack MacAvoy—until Mack saves Stefan’s life and suddenly finds himself under his wing. Richard Gere Middle School will never be the same.
